WalkBPM Privacy Policy

Updated 6 November 2026

The short version

WalkBPM keeps your walks on your iPhone and in your own iCloud. It has no ads, doesn't track you across apps, and never sells your data. A few features send limited information to services that power them, explained below.

On your iPhone

Your walks, routes, scores, settings, profile photo and the details you enter in Account details (name, sex, height, weight and birthday) are stored on this iPhone.

iCloud

Your walks sync to your private iCloud database, run by Apple, so a new iPhone brings your history with it. Only you can see them. The developer can't. Heart rate is the exception: it stays on this iPhone and is never stored in iCloud.

Location

Used while you record, to draw your route and measure pace and climb. So the coach can mention the suburb you're in and places you pass, your position is also sent to Apple Maps to look them up. Apple's privacy policy covers those lookups.

Motion, Health and sensors

Motion sensors count and time your steps on the device. If you turn on Apple Health, WalkBPM saves workouts to it and reads heart rate from it. Bluetooth heart rate sensors are read live and summarized into your walk. Health data is never used for advertising and never sold or shared with third parties.

Your WalkBPM account

Signing in with Apple creates an account on WalkBPM's server, run on Supabase in Sydney, Australia. It holds the anonymous identifier Apple gives us, and your email if you chose to share it, so Pro features can work.

The coach

Spoken coaching with Apple's voices happens on your iPhone. The Coach tab's insights and chat use Apple's on-device AI, so your walk data stays on the phone.

The WalkBPM+ coach voice

With WalkBPM+, each line the coach says is sent to WalkBPM's server and to ElevenLabs, which turns it into speech. A line can include your first name, the suburb or place you're passing, and walk numbers like pace, distance and heart rate, if you've turned those on. WalkBPM doesn't keep the audio. The server counts how many characters you use each day, to keep within fair use. ElevenLabs' privacy policy covers its processing.

Game Center

If you're signed in to Game Center, your Lockstep scores and achievements are sent to Apple's Game Center so they can appear on leaderboards. Apple's privacy policy covers Game Center.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, WalkBPM saves a notification token for this iPhone on its server, linked to your account, so it can send you the notifications you've chosen in Settings, Notifications. It's deleted when you sign out or delete your account. The reminder before a free trial ends is scheduled on your iPhone.

Subscriptions

WalkBPM+ is bought through the App Store. Apple handles payment, and WalkBPM only learns whether your subscription is active. It never sees your payment details.

Deleting your data

Delete account, in Account details, removes your walks and heart rate from this iPhone and iCloud, your profile and settings, and your account on WalkBPM's server. You can also delete single walks by swiping them in Walks. Workouts saved to Apple Health stay there until you remove them in the Health app.
